Background & Challenge
Kiwari Farmers is a coffee-farmers collective turned social enterprise, built around sustainable growing practices on Mt. Manglayang in West Java.
Kiwari Farmers grew out of a group of coffee growers applying sustainable development practices to their farming, with a particular focus on animal welfare, including sourcing civet coffee only from uncaged animals. The identity needed to carry that story of place and practice, not just sell single-origin coffee.
Research & Process
The logo concept traces the journey from coffee cherry to brewed cup: a red coffee-cherry cluster simplified into a four-point mark, later rendered as an engraved-style illustration in the brand’s signature mustard and brown palette. The system extended to canned coffee packaging for two flagship products, Manglayang Karlina beans and Luwak Manglayang civet coffee, plus cold-brew bottles in glass, chosen specifically to cut down on plastic waste, along with business cards and quarterly coasters gifted to loyal customers.
Logo development from coffee cherry to finished mark, shown across packaging.
Outcome & Gallery
The identity shipped across product packaging, cold-brew bottles, business cards and collateral for Kiwari Farmers’ own coffee shop, which also hosted a talk series connecting farmers, brewers and customers.
Reflection
Good coffee starts with how it’s grown.
Building a brand around a farming practice, not just a product, shaped how the studio approaches identity work rooted in a real supply chain.
